Pienaar linked to CT City after being spotted in Mother City

Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana international Steven Pienaar has been spotted in Cape Town fueling rumours that the midfielder may join Cape Town City.

Pienaar, 35, recently became a free agent after leaving Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits just six months into a one-year deal beginning at the start of the 2017/18 season.

The former Everton player is now being linked to Cape Town City where he is believed to have a strong relationship with owner John Comitis going back to their days at Ajax Cape Town.

Comitis confirmed that he is hoping to add two more players before the January transfer window closes.

The Citizens have already secured the services of Kwanda Mngonyama, Masoud Juma and Bradley Ralani.

"We definitely have one more that we have signed and we are very quiet about it," Comitis told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

"We are expecting an arrival in the next 48 hours and an outside possibility of one other and that would be something that we can only disclose at the time, but if I get it right, there will be two more."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
