Phungwayo set to extend Ea Lla Koto stay

Cape Town - Free State Stars are said to be impressed by left-back Patrick Phungwayo's form and could be set to extend his contract for another two seasons.

The former Bidvest Wits left-back joined Ea Lla Koto ahead of the current campaign from Orlando Pirates, where he had been battling for regular game-time.

The 29-year-old has repaid the Stars management with some sturdy performances in defence and has featured in nine of the Bethlehem-based team's 11 league games.

According to a source quoted by the Citizen, the Free State outfit are keen to offer Phungwayo an extended deal.

"Everyone is impressed with his contribution to the club, therefore the club's management has decided to offer him a new contract for a further two years.

"The problem is that there are other Premiership teams interested in him, so Stars have to act quickly in order to encourage him to stay at the club," said the source.

Ea Lla Koto are next in action in the Absa Premiership when they host Golden Arrows on Wednesday December 6.

Kick off is at 19:30.
