Phala confident of a Matsatsantsa win

Pretoria - Ahead of the eagerly anticipated Telkom Knockout final against Cape Town City this coming weekend, SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala insists Matsatsantsa A Pitori are ready to battle for the R4 million title.

Matsatsantsa will contest the lucrative Ziwa Mo crown against the high-flying Citizens at the iconic Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:00.

SuperSport United will be looking for a second trophy at their happy haunting ground in Polokwane, having won the Nedbank Cup six months ago.

“Yes we are more than ready, it is a cup final and we want it most,” Phala told Sport24.

“You know the excitement of bringing silverware to the club is so amazing and it is our second cup final in six months.

“Obviously we are looking forward to winning a second trophy of the calendar year, but it’s a different season and we have already lost the MTN8.

“And this final is also a great opportunity for the new guys to win something with SuperSport United. So a win will be important for us and hopefully the guys will be up for it.”

The 30-year-old midfielder added that Stuart Baxter and his troops will not be intimidated by the Citizens’ rich vein of form.

“Obviously they are very high on confidence and hopefully the spirit is also high at their camp. They have just beaten Wits last Friday.”

“But we know what to expect and we also know what to do. We know how they play as well.

“We have been viewing their match videos and we are not intimidated. At the end of the day it’ll be a 90 minute game and we are ready for them.”
