Patient Chiefs waiting for the right coach - Motaung

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says their club is not panicking and will wait for the right coach to be available for the big job at Naturena.

Chiefs have been heavily linked with the return of Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter, who is currently contracted to the South African Football Association (SAFA).

Motaung stated that the position is very big at their club and will not take any coach who is available.

Patrick Mabedi has been in charge of Chiefs since the club parted ways with Steve Komphela during the 2017/18 season.

Motaung told the Kickoff website: "The issue of the coach is a very sensitive issue. If you check what transpired last year and the past three seasons as a club, the chairman (Kaizer Motaung) is obviously overseeing everything. We got to make sure about who ever we bring on board.

"So it is not an easy job. Kaizer Chiefs is not like a small club where we just appoint tomorrow. We've got to look at a lot of things.

"Firstly, it is about the players, management, change room management. It is about tactical awareness. It is about maturity, leadership and about supporters. Remember our fans have expectations.

"We have to make sure whoever we appoint understands the pressure that comes with the job."

The Amakhosi football manager admitted that they have been struggling to get the right man for the job as the coaches they want are not available.

Added Motaung: "Unfortunately, more qualified coaches who are quality are not available.

"We are not going to go out just to make favours and appoint because we are under pressure.

"We will rather be patient and appoint the right person at the right time. So we are not going to make promises or succumb to pressure."
