Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates interim coach Augusto Palacios says his charges need to start winning games consistently without stressing about challenging for the title.
The Buccaneers currently sit 10th on the Absa Premiership log and will be hoping to turn around their fortunes when they face Platinum Stars next week.
Palacios hinted that the Soweto giants have been working hard since January in an attempt to amend their disastrous 2016 campaign.
"The most important thing is to win matches, that's what matters," Palacios told Sport24 on Friday.
"We have about six games to play this February, starting with Platinum Stars on Wednesday.
"And we want to win and improve on our performances of late last year. We didn't end the year well but our preparations since January are going well.
"We have been working hard since January 9 and we have been playing friendly games. Our players are responding well to our training methods and we're ready.
"We can't say we want to challenge for the title now because you only do that by winning games.
"So our aim is to start winning matches and Stars is our next challenge."
The Buccaneers will be play Stars on Wednesday, February 8 at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
