Cape Town - Orlando Pirates beat
Lamontville Golden Arrows 2-1 to book their place in the 2016 Telkom Knockout
Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.
The Buccaneers scored in each half against Abafana Bes'thende in their Last 16 encounter
at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
Arrows conceded just 10 minutes into the game when Mpho Makola scored with a
powerful shot from the left which made it 1-0 to Pirates.
The visitors pushed for the equalising goal, but the home side stood firm at
the back until the match referee blew the half-time whistle.
However, Arrows did restore parity in the 61st minute when Wayde Jooste hit the
back of the net from a free-kick to make it 1-1 for the visitors.
Bucs then pressed Abafana Bes'thende and they made a major breakthrough in the
73rd minute when Luvuyo Memela scored with a low shot.
Arrows did push for another equalizing goal with time running out for them, but
Pirates were solid at the back until the match ended.
