Cape Town - Following an heroic showing against Ghana last Friday, Uganda coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic says Sundowns keeper Denis Onyango is the continent's best.
Onyango made some outstanding stops to help Uganda earn a credible point in a 0-0 draw away to Ghana in their opening Group E World Cup qualifier at the Tamale Stadium on Friday.
Onyango has also been in fine form for his club, Mamelodi Sundowns, and is likely to start in goal in Saturday's CAF Champions League first-leg final encounter against Zamalek in Pretoria.
"That is payback to me for whatever I have done for him in his life together with his agent, Ivica Stankovic. This is a mature performance of the best goalkeeper in African football at present," Micho, a former Orlando Pirates coach, was quoted as saying by SuperSport.
The 31-year-old Ugandan, who previously played for Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United, featured in 23 of Sundowns’ 30 league matches last season after ousting former No 1, Kennedy Mweene.
