Nthethe eyes clean sheet

Durban - Ahead of their crucial Telkom Knockout final against Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thabo Nthethe believes that they have a solid defence in their squad and a clean sheet would play a significant role in their championship ambitions.

Kick-off is at 18:00

Sundowns and Chiefs will square-off for R14m in the final of the Ziwa Mo competition at the Moses Mabhida stadium on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old central defender says there is nothing special about facing the Amakhosi in the final and the Brazilians will approach the game just like any other normal game but they will be hoping not to concede as they believe that they will break the dead lock.

“We are going to approach it like any other game; there is nothing special about it.” said Nthethe

“It’s just a game which the supporters are expecting a lot from both teams but we’ll approach the game the same way we have been playing.

“Going forward we are very good and also in defending, so we know that if we manage to keep a clean sheet then there will be a better chance for us to win the game.

“So we as defenders need to make sure that we don’t concede.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
