No request from CAF to reschedule PSL games

Cape Town – With Orlando Pirates participating in the CAF Confederation Cup final this weekend, the fixture clashes with two PSL encounters.

However, the League stood their ground on allowing the clashes to resume the same time as the much anticipated final.

The Buccaneers will face Etoile du Sahel while in the Absa Premiership, Mamelodi Sundowns tackle Free State Stars and Ajax Cape Town welcome SuperSport United all at the same time.

PSL General Manager of Football Derek Blanckensee says that the League has drawn up the fixtures well in advance to avoid any clashes.

He further noted that CAF kick-off times are only revealed a week in advanced which is why they deemed to leave the fixtures as is.

“Already on Saturday we have three different kick-off times to enable the broadcasters to show all the games,” said Blanckensee as quoted by KickOff.

“I doubt the game in Cape Town is in any way a counter attraction to the Pirates game, plus the Sundowns game is in Pretoria.

“We don’t have any games in Johannesburg at the same time. And we never got any request to move our fixtures.”
