No Polokwane approach for Phiri

Cape Town - Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba has revealed that Polokwane City have not made a formal approach for Salulani Phiri after the midfielder was linked with the South African club.

Phiri has only just returned to training with his team-mates after a three month stint on the sidelines with a tendon injury.

He sustained the knock in August in the 4-2 loss to Nkana in the FAZ Super League, which Zanaco lead with 68 points from 29 games.

"He was injured during the Nkana game and only resumed light training last week," Numba told Supersport.com.

"We haven't yet received any correspondence from the club so we are waiting for things to be formalised before we can say anything."

Phiri, however, will not be ready in time for the clash against Green Eagles at the Sunset Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
