Mzimela hails Johnson's tactics

Cape Town - Following their shocking 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend, Platinum Stars goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela shared his delight for their hard fought victory and also insisted that head coach, Cavin Johnson’s half-time team talk played a significant role in helping them claim maximum points.

Dikwena came from behind to leapfrog the reigning champions in the closing stages of their Absa Premiership clash played at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday.

Substitute striker Eleazar Rodgers' brace was sufficient to hand the North West Tycoons their first ever win in six games while Chiefs broke the deadlock courtesy of Camaldine Abraw before the interval.

“It was a great game and we are also happy to beat Kaizer Chiefs," said Mzimela.

“We started the game very well and we were playing good football but we conceded a silly goal before half-time.

“So we sat down with the coach at half time and he told us to go back there and fight for the club.

“He said that we could still come back and still win it and that’s what we did exactly, we fought so hard after receiving his motivation.

“We stood our ground and came back to win the game.”

Stars will face the struggling University of Pretoria at home in their next league assignment on Sunday while Chiefs will renew their rivalry against Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
