Myeni: The quality at Wits now is much better

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits midfielder Sifiso Myeni has highlighted the quality of Gavin Hunt's team ahead of the MTN8 Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

With both teams set to compete in their first final in this competition, the former Orlando Pirates dribbling-wizard believes the trophy will be clinched by the team who wants to win it the most.

"We know their playing style and this Sundowns team. They obviously have the quality - you never know who’s going to come up and perform," he told reporters.

"For them there are some guys who have been playing Champions League‚ and some who have not. So for us it’s just to make sure we work hard for one another against whoever we come up against.

"What I do know for sure is they'll definitely be coming into the final wanting a win. And we also want to win."

Both teams will be vying for honours, however it could be argued that the Sturrock Park-based outfit are more in need of the victory, as they have not won any silverware during Hunt's three-year tenure at the club.

"At the end of the day‚ come Saturday‚ whoever wants it the most will most likely lift the cup," Myeni added.

"But we are aware of Sundowns’ quality and that they’ve been playing very well‚ and we know what we’re up against."

Myeni also took the time to highlight the difference between the current Wits side and the outfit which clinched the 2013 Nedbank Cup in a 3-1 defeat to Amazulu.

"The quality at Wits now is much better. We have a lot of experienced guys who have played in big teams. And they’re coming together well," he said.

"For me it’s about what who is better on the day on Saturday‚ who comes with a plan and who wants it more.

"Sundowns have had a big morale boost this week [winning domestic and continental semi-fnals]. For us it’s just to make sure we go out and work hard‚ and do the job," he concluded.
