Muhsin sees luck in Aces-Ajax draw

Cape Town – Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Muhsin Ertugral admits that they were in some sorts lucky to draw against Ajax Cape Town.

The Urban Warriors were by far the stronger side in the first half and took a deserved 2-0 lead into half time thanks to goals from Riyaad Norodien and Prince Nxumalo in the 22nd and 39th minute respectively.

The visitors were much better after half time and pulled a goal back just a minute after the restart and continued to push for an equaliser throughout.

Just when it seemed like their efforts would be in vein, Bongolethu Jayiya scored in the 81st minute to claim a hard-earned 2-2 draw.

According to KickOff, Ertugral says that their half-time team talk contributed to their comeback.

“That one open, hundred-percent goal chance [referring to when Aubrey Ngoma rounded the goalkeeper and then missed an empty net] … but it’s not only this week, it’s nearly every week,” Ertugral said.

“But fantastic comeback, we went into the half-time and spoke to each other, what we must do, and I can only give credit to the boys, the hard work they have [given], the season they are playing, the type of football they are playing.

“In the end we must say that we were a little bit unlucky. They [Ajax] had their situations, but we just conceded goals from counter-attacks when we actually had the ball and missed it, and we were open [at the back] and we were speaking about training that, organising every day.”
