Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mphontshane has been ruled out of their upcoming MultiChoice Diski Challenge clash with Chippa United on Saturday.
The Bafana Bafana international has not seen playing time so far in Bucs' first team in 2016/17, with both Brighton Mhlongo and Felipe Ovono seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
Mphontshane has played two matches for Pirates' MDC side, however, he is yet to break into the starting line-up under coach Muhsin Ertugral.
The Sea Robbers are currently in fifth place in the MDC standings and are three points behind league leaders Bidvest Wits.
But the Soweto giants have confirmed that the 30-year-old keeper won't be involved in the encounter with the Chilli Boys as he recovers from a knee injury.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Mphontshane, who has played between the sticks for two of the three MDC matches, has been ruled out for this encounter due to a knee injury.
"This opens the door for 19-year-old Tsebo Tsotetsi. Tsotetsi has been an unused substitute for all three matches."
