Mphahlele: We want to qualify for the CL

Cape Town - While it looks like the Absa Premiership title has escaped the grasp of Kaizer Chiefs, defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele believes they should target second place at least.

Finishing second will guarantee Chiefs a place in next year's CAF Champions League.

Amakhosi are currently in fourth position with Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits all having a healthy lead at the top of the PSL standings.

"In football you win and sometimes you lose," the defender was quoted by the SowetanLIVE website.

"But when you are playing for Kaizer Chiefs you are expected to win, and there are no excuses. The most important thing is for the team to win trophies.

"We're disappointed when we don't because there are players, there are facilities, there's everything that you need to win the league and win cups at Chiefs.

"If it doesn't happen we'll be very disappointed but guess what, next season we'll go again, and we'll work harder."

The Sowetan giants welcome Golden Arrows to the FNB Stadium on Saturday, May 6.

Kick off is at 20:15.
