Cape Town - New Kaizer Chiefs signing Ramahlwe Mphahlele admits that the offer from the Soweto giants was irresistible.
The 26-year-old defender joined Amakhosi in a surprise move after failing to agree a contract extension with Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs reportedly offered Mphahlele a lucrative three-year contract which included a signing-on bonus.
"I have been locked in negotiations with Sundowns for two seasons, that is when I started negotiating for my contract but you know obviously they take time," he told KickOff.
"I wanted to stay at the club (Sundowns) and I made it clear to everyone that I want to stay here because I see the future here but sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to work out.
"When my agent came with an offer from Kaizer Chiefs one could not just ignore it because it was a good offer and even though after the offer I was still reluctant and I told the club that I am still willing to stay..."
"It is not like I said to them you guys should give me what Chiefs is offering, I was even willing to take less to stay at the club but it didn't happen and that is why I ended up here."
