Motupa vows to bounce back at Baroka

Cape Town - South Africa international playmaker Gift Motupa says his time at Orlando Pirates served him well after completing a loan back to Baroka FC.

After starring for 'Bakgaga' during their rise up the lower divisions of the South African football league pyramid, the technically gifted attacking midfielder was snapped up by the Soweto giants.

His time with the Buccaneers brought unparalleled success within the junior national team as he competed at the Youth Africa Cup of Nations and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

However, this rise to prominence was subsequently halted by a lack of game-time with the Sea Robbers.

But upon his return to his first professional club, the 22-year-old is ready to contribute to his former side's cause and reignite the form that made him one of South Africa's most sought after talents.

"I've gone back to Baroka because the plan is to get more game time and get better as a player. When you play, you grow as a player," Motupa told the SowetanLIVE website.

"I think it was a good experience for me at Pirates, you understand. It was great being there training with those guys.

"I would have loved to play more, but besides that I was happy at Pirates and I will be happy to go back any time."

Thabiso Kutumela, one of Motupa's team-mates who enjoyed a similar progression at the Premiership side and at Mayfair, is also said to be to on the radar of Baroka - who are keen to reunite the pair for a partnership in attack this season.

But CEO Morgan Mammila admits the chances are low that their target will be landed.

"I don't see Thabiso Kutumela coming to us. He belongs to Pirates," he told the IOL website on Wednesday.

"We understand their reasons and we accepted them. They have a plan for him."
