Mbombela - Orlando Pirates striker Gift Motupa was delighted with their much needed victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces at the weekend, following the Buccaneers poor run of results recently.
Pirates returned to the winning ways with an impressive 3-1 triumph over AmaZayoni at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, a result which eased the pressure off head coach Eric Tinkler.
A Thabo Rakhale strike and a brace by Tendai Ndoro were sufficient to see off Aces.
The 21-year-old forward believes that the victory will be a morale booster for the Buccaneers going forward.
“We really needed this win because were going through the tough times," said Motupa.
“And today (Sunday) we were expected to collect the maximum points we did that I’m really happy with a win.
“We played our normal game and we got the results which is good for the team.
“The three goals we scored will be a motivation and morale booster going forward because we were struggling to score goals.”
