Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has compared his charges to the Denmark football side of 1992, ahead of their CAF Champions League tie against Zesco United.
The Chloorkop-based outfit face the reigning Zambian champions in the first-leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday, with Mosimane drawing a parallels between his charges and the famous Olsen Gang.
"We're like the Denmark of Africa," he told FIFA's official website.
"They were eliminated from the Euros in 1992 but then brought in when Yugoslavia were disqualified from playing. All the Danish players were already on holiday and we all know how that ended."
Sundowns were dumped out of the competition during the qualifying stages following a 2-2 draw over the two legs AS Vita, but the Brazilians were allowed to re-entered the competition after the Congolese club was later disqualified.
"We only came back into the competition last year after a long lay-off," Mosimane continued.
"We wanted to get a feel for it and then tackle it next year as we have already qualified as South African champions. This belief has kept a lot of the pressure off of us."
Kick-off is at 15:00.
