Mosimane says he's fearful of Amakhosi

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has started the mind-games ahead of Saturday's clash with Kaizer Chiefs, claiming to be 'scared' of the Soweto giants.

There may however be some truth to Mosimane's words in that while Chiefs have won four of their last five outings, Sundowns have won just twice.

This has seen the Glamour Boys move to third on the table, just five points behind league leaders Sundowns.

And also considering that the last two league outings (this season's first round game and last season's second round encounter) between the two sides both ended in 2-1 wins for Chiefs, it's perhaps not so surprising that Mosimane is concerned.

As such, the Brazilians mentor says he may well go for a defensive approach away at the FNB Stadium.

"Maybe we do five at the back. I'm responding to what the table says. We don't want to lose at FNB," said Mosimane.

"We have to be smart. We don’t want to lose. You might not win but we are not losing.

"We have to be conservative‚ probably‚ why not. Maybe it's always the first time.

"I'm scared of Chiefs‚" he added.

While Sundowns could find themselves up against former team-mate Leonardo Castro, Mosimane has suggested he won't be handing a start to his new signing, Jeremy Brockie, effectively Castro's replacement.

"We will see how the game is. Brockie is not a transitional player. It's a different game there‚" he said.

"I also want to use speed against people. Play counterattack, maybe I will play counterattack."

Kick-off is at 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
