Mosimane hints Brockie chase is still on

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns appear set to do everything they can to sign SuperSport United marksman Jeremy Brockie.

The New Zealand international has been one of the most consistent strikers in the PSL over the last three seasons, and with Sundowns short of out-and-out front men, the African champions are reportedly set on landing Brockie.

Sundowns beat SuperSport 2-0 on Saturday in their opening league match of the season, with Brockie having a quiet match for Matsatsantsa.

Coach Pitso Mosimane subsequently spoke of his desire to bring in a reliable goal-scorer.

"There are still a few days [until the transfer window closes] but we need to push. You have to push," Mosimane told the Sowetan.

"Barca have to push to get [Phillipe] Coutinho and [Ousmane] Dembele - they don't come easy.

"The marksman scores goals, he doesn't dribble. We have enough dribblers, the marksman is there to shoot."

It is believed that the Brazilians are ready to smash the PSL transfer window and pay upwards of R10 million for the 29-year-old.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
