Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane beamed with pride after his side bounced back from an early season setback to down cross-town rivals Supersport United on Saturday.
The Brazilians eased to a 2-0 win over Eric Tinkler's side in their opening Premiership fixture which provides a massive boost of confidence - as their Tshwane rivals have been tipped as potential title contenders this season.
Captain Hlompho Kekana and the influential Themba Zwane handed Masandawana the bragging rights at the Lucas Moripe Stadium to lift the spirits of the Champions of Africa - who were dumped out of the first round of the MTN8 by the unfancied Maritzburg United last week.
"It came as expected, it's a derby, it's always tight and on edge. It's good that we broke the ice first. Unfortunately, they got a red card and it gave us more advantage," he said after the game.
"But beautiful football from 'Mshishi' (Zwane), what a goal he scored. We kept it a bit tight today. I warned the boys not to be too excited because we need to get three points and take it slow.
"They were better than last week against Maritzburg, they worked harder, but what can I say. Three points is very good."
