Moloi impressed with Chippa players' attitude

Cape Town - New Chippa United coach Teboho Moloi has been impressed with the attitude of his players and is optimistic about a change of fortunes.

Moloi was confirmed as the new Chilli Boys mentor on Thursday, earning promotion from his position as assistant to Dan Malesela, who was sacked.

Moloi spoke of his appreciation to club boss Chippa Mpengesi for the opportunity and is determined to make his mark as a head coach, having also previously been an assistant coach at Orlando Pirates.

"It is very easy for club chairmen to go with someone more experienced, tried and tested as compared to someone that has been an assistant and this appointment is a demonstration of the commitment by the executive chairman to give opportunities to aspiring coaches to show what they can offer.

"I am grateful and thankful to have been given an opportunity to coach this football club," Moloi told Chippa's official website.

And he is confident that the players are ready to turn the corner.

"It is unfortunate that I come here on the back of a loss earlier this week but it was amazing to see the response from the players during training.

"They did not have their heads in the hole. We have an ambitious group that is eager to achieve things and fight for this club," said the former Bucs midfielder.

The Eastern Cape side have lost two and won one match this season and are set to take on Platinum Stars, another team which has already changed coaches, in Rustenburg on Saturday night.

Kick off is at 20:15.
