Moloi demanding good reaction after Chiefs defeat

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Teboho Moloi has urged his players to react strongly after their 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday.

The Chilli Boys lost 1-0 to the Glamour Boys in the quarter-finals at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, where Bernard Parker's 31st-minute penalty decided matters.

"I am proud of my players and have no doubt that they will grow in character following this defeat," Moloi told the club's official website.

"It's a hard one to swallow when you lose under these circumstances, but they have to be stronger."

The 49-year-old coach also explained why Kurt Lentjies, who has been superb since joining from Maritzburg United, started on the bench against Amakhosi.

"I knew that Steve (Komphela) having worked with Kurt, had a plan for him, hence I used Andile (Mbenyane)," Moloi added.

"He gave us a lot when he came on in the second half, he is an influential player, and he cried after the game. It showed how badly at his age, he wanted to win this trophy for the club.

"We will continue to work on the last attacking third, and various aspects of our game. We need to remain focused, there is a lot to play for in the league in the next few weeks.

"Our ambition is to compete in Africa, and we will give it a go again in the Nedbank Cup."

Next up for Moloi's side after the international break is a trip to Free State Stars before they welcome Mamelodi Sundowns to Port Elizabeth for another Premiership encounter.
