Mohomi: I'm not anyone's replacement

Cape Town - New Mamelodi Sundowns signing Lucky Mohomi is determined to start his own legacy at the club and not be seen as a replacement for a former star.

Mohomi joined the Brazilians from Free State Stars last month and is seen as a natural successor for midfielder Bongani Zungu, left for Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes.

However, the playmaker is determined to carve out his own path at the club and not simply be seen as filling in for an absent former player.

"I'm not going to replace Zungu. In fact, I'm not anyone's replacement," he told Soccer Laduma's Vuyani Joni.

"I only have my own journey to focus on and nothing else. I believe Zungu played his part at Sundowns, like everyone else, and I'm also going there to write my own history.

"I'm going to Sundowns to play football and contribute towards the club's success.

"There is no doubt about what Zungu has done for the club, wenze umsebenzi omuhle kabi (he did a really good job), and I wish him everything of the best in his new journey."
