Modise wary of Downs complacency

Cape Town - Teko Modise admits Mamelodi Sundowns are not CAF Champions League winners yet despite their 3-0 first leg win over Zamalek.

Modise refuses to get complacent by assuming the Brazilians three goal advantage is an unassailable lead, going into the return leg in Alexandria next week - while the debate on whether to field an under strength side because of Telkom Knockout duties also creeps in.

"Look it is exciting to be in the final. We went out there with a plan and it worked out. There is still work to be done though as the job is only half done," he told the club's official website.

"One cannot say we must choose one from the other," the former Bafana Bafana midfielder said about the last-16 tie against Polokwane.

"Yes, one is more important than the other but that is the job of the technical team. That is not the headache of the players. Our job is to give 100 percent all the time. Therefore when you wear that jersey and head on to the field, you must work."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
