Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise says he is prepared to contribute to the team from the substitutes bench.
Modise made his first start in four months in the 3-2 win over Mariztburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday.
This season Modise has taken up a role of mentor to his younger teammates, who have moved up the pecking order in the starting line-up.
During that period, Sundowns have blazed their way to the summit of the table with a 16-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
"I'm a professional footballer and being a professional also means that someone has to sit on the bench," Modise told KickOff.
"If you look at all the guys that are playing in my position they are doing very, very well. So I just waited for my chance.
"This is the first time that I have played the 90 minutes in four months, so it is one of those things...I just needed to be on the sidelines just like what Cuthbert Malajila did.
"Within the team we got a very good squad and we can win with anybody on the pitch and that has been working for us."
