Mlambo distances himself from Vilakazi comparison

Cape Town - New Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo has dismissed comparisons made between him and the team's former playmaker Sibusiso Vilakazi.

The university club lost Vilakazi to big spending Mamelodi Sundowns after a 12-month chase for the player.

Having joined from Chippa United, Mlambo insists that he adds a different dynamic to the team going into the new season.

"The reports that Gavin Hunt signed me as Villa's replacement I cannot really say much about it because I am not sure from which perspective they are looking at it," he told Goal.com website.

"But I and Villa are two different types of players, he is more of a ball player, a really good one, he is more offensive whereas I am the central part of things.

"Going into the new season knowing that I spent a few months at Chippa, I will have to take everything as it comes at Wits.

"They want to win trophies and as a player, I also want to see myself with a league medal also and from there, everything will fall into place.

"I need to set short term goals firstly before going further because I cannot plan the future without planning for the present."
