Mkhonza wants Chiefs to sign Sangweni

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Joseph Mkhonza believes Chippa United midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni would be a good signing for Amakhosi.

Sangweni is currently on loan at the Port Elizabeth outfit from Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and, with his loan spell set to expire in June 2016, Naturena has been reported to be the next destination for the 26-year-old.

Mkhoza, who played for Kaizer Chiefs from 2004 to 2007, believes Sangweni would be a great acquisition for the Soweto giants and added the player's experience will definitely bring depth to the squad.

"I think he would be a good signing for Chiefs. He is a very good player. He has the qualities to play for a team like Chiefs," Mkhonza told Goal website.

"I think he would compliment Katsande and all the other midfielders at Chiefs very well. So yes, if they manage to get him he will be a great addition just like William Twala has become because he has played for a big club before and knows what it takes to wear the jersey of such a club.

"I think even with Lucky Baloyi, he is a good player, but Chiefs need to have depth and they need to have a player like Sangweni to give the depth especially in midfield.

"He is an experienced player because he has been with the national team before and I think Baloyi can learn something from him," Mkhonza concluded.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
