Mhlongo wary of competition

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo said he is happy to be back on the field of play, but admits he faces a tough task at reclaiming his place in the first team.

The South Africa international has been sidelined with a knee injury since August, but made his return to action in the friendly match against Bidvest Wits on Friday evening.

However, Mhlongo is by no means guaranteed a return to the starting XI, with Felipe Ovono and Siyabonga Mpontshane performing admirably in his absence.

"I am happy that I can play again. I have been working hard on my rehabilitation and things are looking good," Mhlongo told Soccer Laduma.

"I know I want to play again for the team but the other two guys Ovono and Mpontshane have been doing good and I have to work hard to be given the chance to play.

"It's always good to work hard and achieve what you want."
