Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo has admitted he sees the Telkom Knockout as a chance to secure a trophy for the club.
Pirates face joint Premiership leaders Golden Arrows in a Round of 16 clash on Sunday, and the 25-year-old believes it is the first step towards winning a cup for Muhsin Ertugral's side.
Bucs have been in some uncertain form of late, having only picked up one win in their last five matches played.
However, the Happy People will no doubt look to get back to some better form with the Soweto derby approaching at the end of the month.
Pirates face Kaizer Chiefs in the league on 29 October and getting a positive result against Abafana Bes'thende could give them a lift going into the encounter with the Glamour Boys.
Nonetheless, Mhlongo is targeting success in the competition after the team were sent crashing out of the MTN8 by Bidvest Wits earlier this season.
He told the club's official Twitter account: "It's a great opportunity to regroup after our MTN8 exit. We want to start off well with the potential for silverware (at stake)."
Sunday's action gets underway from 15:00 at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.
