Cape Town - Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere has been impressed with the youngsters that have been promoted to the first team for the coming season.
Dikwena coach Cavin Johnson has brought seven players from the junior team which participated in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.
The young guns got a run against Orlando Pirates in the Bokone Bophiriwa Maize Cup at Moruleng Stadium on Saturday.
Mere also welcomed being utilised in central midfield and not at right-back in the pre-season tournament.
"It is our third or fourth game in pre-season and I think it is so far so good for us as a team and I am quite impressed with the youngsters especially," he told Goal.com website.
"It was not about the result, but preparing the team and we can pat ourselves on the back. We have a lot of youngsters in the team, playing against this giant. Yes we lost, we are disappointed, but I think there are a lot of positives.
"I am a soccer player, whichever position the coach wants to play me I am ready to do the task, as an experienced player nearing the end of my career.
"If the coach wants to play me at goalkeeper I will be a goalkeeper, I was given a task today to play in midfield and I hope I did well. I was happy with my performance."
