MDC Champs all set for Netherlands trip

Cape Town - The newly-crowned MultiChoice Diski Challenge (PSL Reserve League) champions, Lamontville Golden Arrows are gearing themselves for a week-long European adventure when they visit the Netherlands in a few days.

The seven-day long trip to the Netherlands is awarded to the overall winners of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.

The team, led by head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi and captain Sibusiso Sibeko will depart for the Netherlands on Friday, March 18 and return to South Africa on Saturday, March 26.

During their visit, the club will get to test their strengths against Beloften Eredivisie sides; PEC Zwolle, FC Twente and Heracles FC. During their stay in the Netherlands, they will be based in Zwolle and will train at the IJsseldelta Stadium - the training venue for PEC Zwolle first team.

Golden Arrows will also spend some time at the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) headquarters in Utrecht training under the watchful eye of senior Eridivisie mentors while also getting an opportunity to observe a training session of the Netherlands senior national team as they prepare for their international friendly match against France.

Rounding off their stay in the Netherlands, the KZN side will attend the Netherland’s national team’s international friendly match against former world champions France at the majestic Amsterdam Arena.

Abafana Bes’thende clinched the 2015/16 Asidlali trophy in dramatic fashion as they came back from a goal down to beat Free State Stars 2-1 on the final day of the season with both goals coming in the last five minutes of the match.

Golden Arrows European trip Schedule:

Departure (Friday, March 18)

- Depart from King Shaka International at 20:00 (Flight SA 582)
- Arrive at OR Tambo International at 21:05
- Depart from OR Tambo International at 23:59 (Flight KL592)
- Arrive at Schiphol Airport at 10:15 (Saturday, 19 March 2016)

Day 1 (Saturday, March 19) – Watch Eredivisie match (PEC Zwolle vs Willem ll)

Day 2 (Sunday, March 20) – Match day vs. PEC Zwolle

Day 3 (Monday, March 21) – Training (IJsseldelta Stadium)

Day 4 (Tuesday, March 22) – Match day vs. FC Twente

Day 5 (Wednesday, March 23) – KNVB training

Day 6 (Thursday, March 24) – Match day vs. Heracles

Day 7 (Friday, March 25) – Travel to Amsterdam to watch Netherlands vs. France

Day 8 (Saturday, March 26) – Return home, arrival at O.R. Tambo at 22:10
