Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy believes another trophyless season for Steve Komphela would spell the end of his reign at the club.
Komphela will be under immense pressure to deliver silverware in the upcoming season after a difficult first season in charge.
Chiefs lost both MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals and only managed a fifth place finish in the Premiership.
"Chiefs has shown a lot of faith in Komphela in his first season and he should repay them," McCarthy told KickOff.
"I mean Komphela's got the personnel and players he wanted to compete for honours. There is no time for excuses and it's time to deliver.
"I'm not entirely sure about what is referred to as the Chiefs way, but I'm thinking it's not only the brand of attacking football but the success he needs to bring to the club again.
"The fans have been longing for total dominance like former teams in the past. It won't be easy and the pressure will be on. It is definitely going to be an interesting season that lies ahead."
