Matlaba targets three-point haul

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates captain Thabo Matlaba insists the Buccaneers will be targeting no less than all three points when they take on Free State Stars on Saturday evening.

Eric Tinkler's men suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ea Lla Koto at Goble Park in February and will be determined to make amends for what was a disappointing result.

And with the Premiership season entering the final stretch, Pirates will be looking to end the season on a high note by winning all their remaining fixtures on home soil, starting with the clash against Giovanni Solinas' side.

"We have spoken as players and we have taken a resolution to win all our matches at the Orlando Stadium," Matlaba told the club's website.

"We want to reach our objective of finishing in the 3rd or 4th position on the log standings and we cannot do that by playing for draws."

He added: "Look they have a new Coach and they have been getting good results because their players are obviously looking to impress, however we are not fazed by that.

"I think they will look to defend and come away with a point, which will increase their tally against Pirates to four points this season and we cannot allow that."

Kick-off is at 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
