Matlaba out of Sundowns clash

Cape Town - Versatile left-back and stand-in Orlando Pirates captain Thabo Matlaba is set to miss the club's midweek clash against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Matlaba inspired the Buccaneers to their second win in a row when he netted the solitary goal of the match against University of Pretoria this past weekend.

However, he also picked up a yellow card which has resulted in his having to serve a mandatory one match suspension due to an accumulation of four yellow cards.

Club coach Eric Tinkler has on number of occasions expressed concern over the club’s inability to field an consistent starting XI due to either injury or suspension.

According to the club's website, Wednesday will be no exception for Tinkler and his technical team as they look to replace the inform Matlaba.

On the upside though, Patrick Phungwayo has returned from injury and is ready for selection along with the likes of Tshepo Gumede.
