Mathoho ready and fit for 'Downs test

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have been boosted by the return to fitness of defender Eric Mathoho ahead of their clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mathoho returned to training last week after being sidelined for four weeks with an ankle injury.

A source close to the team has revealed that Mathoho could make his return to action against Sundowns at the FNB Stadium.

"He is fit. He will be available for selection for the first game of the year which is against Sundowns. He has worked hard on his fitness and it's good to see him back with the team," the source told Soccer Laduma.

Mathoho took to Twitter to confirm his return to full training with the team.

"I passed my fitness test thanx God. I wish u all a happy new year be safe n be blessed."

Chiefs take on Sundowns in an Absa Premiership encounter as the PSL returns following the festive season break.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on Saturday, January 9.
