Marques quits as Santos head coach

Cape Town - National First Division side Santos confirmed that Zeca Marques has resigned as head coach with immediate effect.

The former Moroka Swallows coach revealed that the decision was mutual between club chairman, Goolam Allie.

"I have decided to step aside as the Head Coach of Santos FC," Marques said in a statement released.

"This is joint decision made together with the Chairman of the Club, Mr. Goolam Allie.

"We have decided to part ways by mutual agreement, this being in the best interests of the club. Notwithstanding my best efforts, unfortunately, results have just not gone our way"

"It is the correct time to give an opportunity to another coach to run the club. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Chairman and his family for the assistance and advice rendered to me during my time at the club.

"I also thank the technical team for their hard work and dedication. To the players and to the club in general, I pass on my best wishes for the rest of the season."
