Cape Town - Maritzburg United chairman Farouk Kadodia has confirmed that the club are looking to bring Sundowns defender Rheece Evans back to the KZN team in the January transfer window.
Evans, who was in superb form at the Team of Choice before earning a big-money move to Sundowns almost two seasons ago, has found it difficult to break into the first eleven of a star-studded Brazilians outfit.
With Maritzburg at the foot of the Absa Premiership table, Kadodia has to pull out all the stops if he wants his side to avoid relegation, and the return of their former right-back would be a major boost.
Kadodia told KickOff: "When the deal is done with Sundowns we will let you guys all know. But at the moment, yes we are interested in getting him back from Sundowns.
"We are just doing it quietly and once the deal is done I will tell you exactly why we want him, where he will play and what his role will be."
Maritzburg's next match in the league is away to Platinum Stars on December 20.
