Cape Town - Maritzburg United have confirmed that former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town mentor, Roger de Sa, as head coach of the PSL outfit.
Sport24 reported that club chairman Farook Kadodia, revealed last Friday that a new appointment was imminent.
De Sa was tipped to fill the void left by Shakes Mashaba at Bafana Bafana but has accepted a deal with the KwaZulu-Natal side.
"I've had a long relationship with the Chairman and it's great to be here," De Sa said as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
"The support here in Pietermaritzburg is second to none, the squad is good and the vibe I get here is very positive."
Meanwhile, Kadodia has set aside praise for Fadlu Davids as the assistant coach took over on an interim basis.
“Credit to Fadlu Davids and the rest of the technical team on doing a wonderful job after Middendorps departure," Kadodia said.
“There was no rush is appointing a new Head Coach until we had found the right appointment for the Football Club.”
De Sa will find himself in United’s technical area on February 8 when they take on Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Kick off is at 19:00.
