Maritzburg bring in new keeper

Cape Town - Maritzburg United have announced the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The Team of Choice are currently sitting at the bottom of the Premiership standings, but Verbauwhede is confident he has made the right move.

"The club is positioned way too low considering the quality of the team," the Belgian told his new club's official website.

"I have been following the league closely and the results against Supersport and Orlando Pirates could have been better.

"I believe in this team, I am not scared, I know that we will get out of this situation. If I didn't have hope, I would not have committed myself."

United coach Ernst Middendorp currently only has two keepers at his disposal in Virgil Vries and Tawfeeq Salie.

The KZN club are next in action on Saturday night, when they host Masandawana at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
