Cape Town - Cape Town City midfielder Lebogang Manyama is targeting a return to action against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8.
The 25-year-old broke his toes in a challenge for former club Mpumalanga Black Aces in February and missed the rest of the season, but is now close to full fitness.
Manyama, who has also played for Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United, is eager to make his return against the Glamour Boys.
He told The Sowetan: "I can't wait to get going although I must still have final scans before I get the clear to go back to full training.
"If I don't get the all-clear then I've just got to keep on working as hard as I've been working. I spoke with the coach [Eric Tinkler] and we spoke about me making the first game and I'd really hope that.
"But obviously I'm behind the other guys in terms of fitness but if the scan goes well‚ I'm hoping I can make the bench. But four days later (against Chiefs)... I can't miss that!"
City make their Premiership debut against Polokwane City on August 23 before the clash with Chiefs on August 26 in the MTN8 quarter-finals.
Manyama was one of the 14 players who moved to the Mother City following the sale of Black Aces and subsequent re-forming as Cape Town City.
