Manyama takes positives after Cup exit

Cape Town - Cape Town City captain Lebogang Manyama believes their MTN8 Cup elimination was a foregone conclusion after their 3-0 first-leg hammering at the hands of Bidvest Wits.

City held Wits to a goalless draw in the second-leg of the cup semi-final at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

Manyama felt that the newly-formed team had some positives to takeaways from the knockout experience.

"We tried our best but in all honesty I mean this game was long gone from the first leg," Manyama told SuperSport.

"We lost it in the first leg but we had to come here and show that we are the home team.

"We tried our best you know but we played the better team. For us it's still a learning curve all we have to do is congratulate them.

"You know if we got one (goal) it would have been better for us and we kept on looking for it.

"These things don't come sometimes and you have to accept it. But at least we tried, we're creating chances, we just need to take one and then we''ll take it from there."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
