Manyama pleased with progress

Cape Town - Cape Town City skipper Lebogang Manyama feels his team is moving in the right direction to become a respected outfit in the Premiership.

The newly-assembled Mother City club has had a positive start to the season after two wins, two draws and a loss.

The 26-year-old has been the backbone of the team with a number of superb performances under coach Eric Tinkler.

"We are a new club in this league and trying to build some kind of legacy and foundation that the club can move on to bigger things from," Manyama told KickOff.

"So it is very important that as the first group of players we do things right so that we go on to be remembered as a group that set the footing.

"It is really important to have that in mind whenever we go onto the field as players of Cape Town City.

"Beyond this being a job that you enjoy getting paid for doing you want to make sure that you create some kind of legacy when you are a new club like City.

"When I put in the effort I am not doing it for personal glory but helping the team move towards the right direction.

"I understand the responsibilities on my shoulders and I want to measure up to them by stepping up whenever called for duty."
