Cape Town - Free State Stars are prepared to offer a lifeline to Edward Manqele's career, with the provision that he loses weight.
Manqele first made his name at Stars in the 2011/12 campaign with some scintillating performances and 14 goals for Ea Lla Koto earning him a national team call-up and a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
But he only netted twice in 19 games for 'Downs before being loaned to Moroka Swallows, then joining Chippa United and later Kaizer Chiefs; battling for game-time and fitness over the last four years.
The 30-year-old is now back at his former club Stars, who are keen to add him to their squad, provided he can prove his fitness.
"We will try and see if he can lose the weight and if that proves to be the case then we are good to go‚" Ea Lla Koto general manager Rantsi Mokoena told SowetanLive website.
