Mangena urges Parker to hang up his boots

Cape Town - Mike Mangena believes that Kaizer Chiefs forward Bernard Parker's best years are behind him, and suggested that he should hang up his boots.

Parker is 30-years-old.

The football analyst brought his former team under the spotlight and revealed that Chiefs need to critically analyse the former FC Twente man - as Mangena believes he has no place in Steve Komphela's team.

"They need to look at Bernard Parker. Parker has done it, he's had a fantastic career, he's done well," he told Soccer Laduma.

"But it's time to say: 'Hey, let me hang up those boots.'

"I'm not one to tell him what to do, but the coach needs to play the youngsters now, because I don't see Bernard Parker making any difference as a player," he concluded.

Parker has come under continuous scrutiny from large sectors of the Amakhosi fraternity for increased lack of goals since his arrival at the Naturena based outfit in 2011.
