Malesela: We're building for the future

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Dan Malesela believes his team was scripting their own history after accomplishing their first top-eight Premiership finish.

The Chilli Boys ended their season with an emphatic high after beating Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 on the last day of the league on Saturday.

Buyani Sali and Lerato Manzini grabbed the goals as Chippa clinched a comfortable three-point haul.

Malesela steered the Cape outfit to a record of 13 wins, six draws and 11 losses for their 45 points.

"It's a good ending to the season, all credit must go to everyone at the club – I'm not going to single out anybody," Malesela said after the game.

"We are building something for the future, and hopefully we will get it right in the new season.

"It's the beginning of a small history. We need to open history at Chippa United and not fight for relegation, so this is the beginning of a chapter that we are opening up."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
