Malesela unsurprised by poor display

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Dan Malesela feels that his team may have had psychological fatigue in their goalless draw against SuperSport United on Wednesday.

The Chilli Boys had only three days to recover from their taxing clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final first-leg on Sunday.

Malesela was therefore not surprised that his players lacked their usual sharpness.

"They had more chances, clear-cut chances. We had one shot. It was just moves that were promising but to no effect," Malesela told KickOff.

"These things happen, particularly when you come from the type of game we played on Sunday. I'm not deeply surprised.

"I think we need to be very decisive when getting closer to the opponent's penalty area, because that can be the difference between us maybe getting a goal or being countered.

"We were playing against a team that is waiting to counter, so any mistake we make, they may get something out of it. That was evident here."
