Cape Town - Chippa United coach Dan Malesela says bad defending led to his team's 2-1 loss against Platinum Stars in a Premiership encounter on Friday night.
The Chilli Boys took the lead in the first-half courtesy of a Lerato Manzini strike, but Dikwena battled hard and managed to score two second half goals through Robert Nga'mbi and Benson Shilongo to give them the victory.
The result sees the Port Elizabeth-based outfit's top-eight
ambitions take a slight knock as they occupy ninth spot on the table following
the loss and their mentor revealed his disappointment.
"We stopped playing in the second half," he told
the club's official website. "We defended badly. This is a sad loss,"
he said after the game.
"We need to start showing character and show the same
attitude regardless of the opposition. We had a superb first half and we should
have scored more.
"The midweek game had no effect on the result. We made things difficult for ourselves here and we must pick the pieces and focus on the next one on Tuesday," he concluded.
