Malesela praises home support

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Dan Malesela praised the supporters who came out in their numbers for the 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Tuesday.

The Chilli Boys adopted a defensive approach against the champions of Africa on a horrendous playing surface after witnessing the 6-0 mauling of Orlando Pirates at Loftus Versveld on Saturday.

They fell behind midway through the first-half, but Wayne Arendse's opener was soon cancelled out when he conceded a penalty for Rhulani Manzini to convert from the spot before half-time.

"We were very cautious in our approach but at the same time every chance we get we wanted to attack, and this was evident a bit later in the game," Malesela said after the game.

"The biggest thing I appreciate here is the atmosphere, electrifying.

"Unfortunately the pitch did not match that, if the pitch matched the quality of the players that were on the field then we would have been talking something different probably."

The point against Masandawana sees Chippa sitting eighth place in the Premiership standings after 16 outings.
